Hello, my name is Gwen Fiecko. I have been teaching in the Manitowoc Public School District for ten years. I have taught 7th grade English through 11th grade English. I have taught Creative Communications and Theatre. For the past five years, I have taught Multimedia Communications. Starting in 2011, the class name will change to 21st Century Communications. The name change and the curriculum is truly more representative of the digital world in which we live. The class centers around English, Art, and Technology. Further, it incorporates 21st Century Skills, English Common Core Standards, and IB standards.
Background:
In 2001, I earned a BA in English and certification in grades 6 through 12 at Silver Lake College. Additionally, I have a minor in Computer Science.
In 2010, I graduated from Marian University with a Masters Degree in Education and a concentration in Educational Technology.
In Fall of 2011, I presented at the Learning Partnership Conference at UWGB. My presentation centered on incorporating technology into the classroom.
When I am not teaching, I make websites for small businesses and non-profit organizations.
Personal:
I have three children who were educated in the Manitowoc Public School District and the UW system. Due to the educational excellence they received in grades K - 12, they were successful in college and they are successful in life.
